At an altitude of 1470 meters, travelers have a magnificent view of the volcanic landscape of the 1717 m high Gunung Batur and its fantastic lake. The spectacular mountainous region around Kintamani with its deep crater lake and bubbling hot springs, make this region a must for Bali tourists. The Batur Lake is the largest lake in Bali and offers some of the most spectacular views that can even be found on the island.
Things to do near Kintamani
In the museum Gunungapi Batur interested visitors find more information about the Pacific Ring of Fire, volcanology and eruptions of Mount Batur. Films, computer animations and a telescope with a view of the mountain make this museum an experience. On the drive from Ubud to Kintamani you can find the museum on the last corner before Kintamani. At the junction to Singaraja, a steep staircase leads up to the highest temple in Bali, Pura Puncak Penulisan, at an altitude of 1745m above sea level. From the ancient temple complex you also have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.
Travel to Kintamani
Kintamani can be approached from the south with 2 routes in from Ubud (45 minutes) and one each from Besakih (1 hour). There are daily shuttle bus services from Ubud, but they should be booked 24 hours in advance. Kintamani is also served by bemos and buses from Batubulan terminal in Denpasar for about Rp 25,000.
